The Basics of Dubbing
Tuesday, May 15th

On May 15, we will have a class on "The Basics of Dubbing" taught by Brian Mazoyer and Ron Robinson. The class is designed to help all levels of fly tiers from beginner to advanced. We will cover selecting the appropriate dubbing for specific flies including dry flies, wet flies, emergers, nymphs, terrestrials, and streamers. Methods of application will be demonstrated along with a discussion of which method might be selected over another. We will cover the wide range of tools that can be used to make this a fun process and produce high-quality results. As in the past, we will have natural and synthetic materials that each student can blend to make their own "special" mix.

This is always a fun class so make your plans now to attend. The class will be held at the Sunnyslope Community Center from 7:00 - 9:00 PM. If you have any questions, give Ron Robinson a call at 602-867-8820.

An Overview of Education Classes in 2012

Our basic fly tying classes will be given in February and September. There will be nine nights of tying each month and the Feb. classes will feature minnow imitations. There will be eight classes on fly casting. Rod construction will occupy the month of March. The nine special education classes run from April to December and will cover a wide range of subjects. Take a look at the activity schedule given in this newsletter and if you have any questions about any of the education activities, please give Ron Robinson a call at 602-687-8820.

The Arizona Flycasters Club has a very comprehensive education program. It includes both classroom and "in field" instruction by qualified members. Our classes are continually revised to include the latest information, innovations and techniques. The program has a great deal of flexibility so that we can offer any classes our membership wants. Currently we have approximately fifty instruction events per year. This includes special seminars by nationally know fly fishing experts.

Our current class list includes the following:

• Basic Fly Tying - two sessions of 8 classes each in the spring and fall.
• Intermediate Fly Tying - eleven classes distributed over the entire year.
• Fly Casting - five formal classes throughout the year and special classes given on request.
• Rod Construction - one class, 4 sessions, early in the year.
• Net Construction - hope to offer the opportunity in the near future.
• Lanyard Class - one class given in the spring.
• Fishing Moving Water - one class given in the winter.
• Fishing Lakes - on lake classes given during monthly club trips.
• Equipment Selection and Maintenance - at least one class each year.
