Fly Tiers Meet Up

AFC Fly Tiers Guild Meets August 24: We have had a number of requests for a VERY informal get together to tie flies of our own liking and share techniques and materials used. Depending on the response, we will meet once a month at the Sunnyslope Community Center from 7:00 to 8:45 PM. The first meeting will be held August 24 with a theme of “rabbit”, which would include just about any type of fly, so bring materials for a favorite pattern and show us how you tie and fish it.

2016 Banquet Photos

Thanks to all the people who came out to help set up the banquet, man registration table and raffle ticket sales table. Thanks to all the contributors of raffle prizes, as well as, the great deserts table.  And a special thanks to the Banquet Committee of Brad Norgaard, Marti Cahoon and Brad Johnson.

Also thanks to all of you who contributed by purchasing raffle tickets.  As mentioned this is one of the club’s highlights of the year and you all make it possible.

Thank you for the AFC Board.

Scottsdale Sportsman Show. March 10th – 13th

scottsdale-showScottsdale Sportsman Show.  March 10th – 13th

We are looking for volunteers to man our booth and show those that may be interested how to cast a fly rod.  My desire is to have it broken down into different times so 1 person is not spending the whole day or having to work everyday unless they desire to.  By volunteering you receive free access and parking to the event.  I will also have everything set up Wednesday night and will be there to tear everything down Sunday.
I have had several people tell me they would be willing to help BUT would prefer if they could sign up for the spot/spots they would like to fill.  We will also for the first time have a setup where if someone would like to tie flies the image will be reflected or we will have the ability to run video.  (Ben will have it all set up)

Annual Banquet & Raffle

banquet-350x250The annual Banquet and Raffle is AFC’s flagship event.  It gives our members a chance to bring the family out to an event where we all can get to know it other a little better, share a great meal (this is not your burger & dog cookout), recognize our many tireless and dedicated members for their contributions in the past year and WIN GREAT PRIZES.

In addition it is our major fundraiser for the year.  Your ticket price covers the food and the raffle sales gives us the resources we need to do our members services and community outreach projects.

Lot of work goes into the planning each year.  The last few year Marti Cahoon has headed up this project and we all own her a great deal of thanks.  Here dedication and hard work make this go off without a hitch.

So in short, when you think about whether you want to attend or how many raffle tickets to purchase, remember your support and dollars are what make our club outstanding and a shining star in the community
