I’d like to get folks together to fish Lee’s Ferry in September…. maybe for 3 days. We would stay at Lee’s Ferry campground for those with trailers or tents. Cliff Dweller’s Lodge is a god place for those that would like to stay in a motel. I will do the walk in area, but there are also guide trips to go up stream.

I have made a map of the walk-in area, and fly patterns that have worked for me and others that have gone.

Please contact me (phone is the best)and we’ll set some dates that don’t interfere with club activies.

AZGFD Fishing Report: Top-5 spots for this week

TIP OF THE WEEK

There is a new moon Aug. 2, making this a superb time to fish at night using submersible lights. Top pick is Lake Pleasant for stripers using anchovies. Fish at night using little or no weight. Cut your bait into thirds, but cut your chum into quarters. Chum liberally. Add corn for a little extra fish excitement (it will also attract sunfish, carp and catfish). The more fish activity you can generate, the better — it’s like a dinner “gong” going off under water that attracts predatory fish. … See  Complete article below

Presidents Lines – July 2016

jrondoni-75x75-2Hello AFC members. I hope everybody had a safe and happy Fourth of July! At a time each year when we celebrate our independence, what better way to celebrate than on a fishing trip. Now that the real summer is here, it is a great time to get out of town.

I recently went on a day trip to Knoll Lake. It was a good day, producing three good-sized rainbows. The temperature was 77 degrees when I left, making it very difficult not to turn right around and go back.

So if you have an opportunity for a trip, go for it. And keep an eye on Fishing Buddies on our website for someone to share the trip with.

Speaking of upcoming trips, the annual San Juan trip is coming up October 15- 19. Phil Koda has a Sportsman’s Warehouse $25 gift card that will be drawn and presented to the winner at the Liars Banquet. All you have to do to have a chance to win is register on Eventbrite. When you register, put down if you have or need a roommate, ride, or special accommodations. Even if you will not be staying at Abe’s, just let us know you will be going on the trip. Phil Koda and John Doss are working to make it a great trip, just like last year.

This month’s quote is from an unknown source but it could not be said any better:

“A woman who has never seen her husband fishing doesn’t know what a patient man she married!”

Stay cool everyone, and we will see you at the July 14 general meeting.
