Six AFC members joined with nearly 1,000 other volunteers on Saturday, October 22 to participate in the Salt River Beautification Project (i.e., trash pickup). As part of National Make a Difference Day, a variety of sponsors joined the Tonto National Forest in coordinating the pickup of trash along 8 miles of the lower Salt River. Nearly 10,000 pounds of trash were collected with odd items such as fishing poles, batteries, tires and play pens. Thanks to Alan Davis, David Mayl, Jim Walker, John Doss and Eric Swanson for pitching in and teaming up with other TU members. It was pretty impressive how a few hours of trash pickup efforts could improve the appearance of the area. Think what could be accomplished if each of us dedicated a little extra time while on our next outing to make our world a bit better.
