Beginning Fly Tying Classes Begin in February
So Christmas has come and gone and this year you apparently found yourself on
Santas "good" list and received a new fly tying vice or some new tools or
materials. The best place to bring those new vices and tools is to the Beginning
Fly Tying classes starting up in February. This will be a great set of classes
to attend even if you didn't get any fly tying stuff for Christmas.
This spring we are going to be doing something a little bit different than we have in the
past; we are going to be teaching streamer patterns for all nine of the classes
this time around. So come on down and learn some new streamer fishing patterns,
learn some new techniques and maybe make some new fishing or tying friends! As
always you don't have to have anything (tools or experience) so come and join
us, we will be supplying all the vices, tools and materials you will need.
Here are the dates for the classes: February 2, 6, 8, 13, 15, 21, 22, 27, and 29.
We will be at the Sunnyslope Community Center from 7-9 p.m. on these night,
so come on over for some fun and education!

Spey and Switch Casting
Saturday, February 18 at Granada Park
AFC is sponsoring a special class on Saturday, February 18 at Granada Park from 9 - 11 a.m. This class is for more advanced casters and will focus on
Spey and Switch casting. We are very fortunate to have Bruce Williams, Master FFF
instructor, heading up this class. Bruce hopes to have Molly Semenik, our December
general meeting guest speaker, and Mark Huber assisting.
The class will teach the basics of these unique styles of casting. You can use your current single hand rod if
you don't currently have a spey or switch rod.
If you have questions on this class
please, give Ron Robinson at call at 602-867-8820.

The Arizona Flycasters Club has a very comprehensive education program. It includes both classroom and "in field" instruction by qualified members. Our classes are continually revised to include the latest information, innovations and techniques. The program has a great deal of flexibility
so that we can offer any classes our membership wants. Currently we have approximately fifty instruction events per year. This includes special seminars by nationally know fly fishing experts.
Our current class list includes the following:
• Basic Fly Tying - two sessions of 8 classes each in the spring and fall.
• Intermediate Fly Tying - eleven classes distributed over the entire year.
• Fly Casting - five formal classes throughout the year and special classes given on request.
• Rod Construction - one class, 4 sessions, early in the year.
• Net Construction - hope to offer the opportunity in the near future.
• Lanyard Class - one class given in the spring.
• Fishing Moving Water - one class given in the winter.
• Fishing Lakes - on lake classes given during monthly club trips.
• Equipment Selection and Maintenance - at least one class each year.
